Dan Trachtenberg (Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Boys) shows no signs of loosening his stranglehold on the Predator franchise. He’s got several projects featuring the classic science-fiction horror hunters stealthily sneaking toward screens large and small, including Predator: Badlands. Today, 20th Century Studios is ready to unleash the latest trailer and poster for Predator: Killer of Killers, an original animated anthology set in the Predator universe, releasing on June 6, 2025.

Here’s the official description for Predator: Killer of Killers from 20th Century Studios and Hulu:

“The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.”

Predator: Killer of Killers is directed by Dan Trachtenberg with Josh Wassung, from animation company The Third Floor, serving as co-director. The film stars Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn and is written by Micho Robert Rutare and story by Trachtenberg and Rutare, based on characters created by Jim Thomas & John Thomas. The producers are John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, and Ben Rosenblatt, with Lawrence Gordon, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Stefan Grube as executive producers.

The latest Predator: Killer of Killers trailer showcases the anthology’s Predators, tortured human warriors, and nonstop ultraviolence. The animation gives off Arcane vibes, with visceral violence that harkens back to the extreme carnage of the Mortal Kombat video game series. The three different stories drop audiences at the center of multiple battlefields where chances of survival are slim to none. In addition to matching wits with the Predators, the humans battle inner turmoil, navigate interpersonal squabbles, and watch their loved ones get picked off individually.

What do you think about the latest Predator: Killer of Killers trailer? Do you like the animation style? Can the anthology stand proudly alongside the film franchise? Let us know in the comments section below.

Someone gives the Pied Piper a run for his money in today’s teaser trailer for Weapons. The latest film from the director of 2022’s Barbarian remains shrouded in mystery, though new footage from the upcoming horror film offers a few breadcrumbs. Zach Cregger shocked the horror community in 2022 with Barbarian, an experience that’s better if you go into it knowing as little as possible. Barbarian captured the hearts of horror fans with its dank atmosphere, powerful performances, and twisted premise. Can Cregger set cinemas ablaze with his sophomore effort? We’ll find out when the film comes to theaters on August 8.

In Zack Cregger’s Weapons teaser, an unknown interviewer speaks with a troubled father named Mr. Graff about a mysterious phenomenon involving kids disappearing in the middle of the night. With no explanation, kids ran from their homes at roughly 2:17 am. No one forced them or pulled them from safety. They just left, arms out to their sides, into the black of night.

Most details about Weapons are shrouded in mystery. It has been said that it’s “an interrelated, multistory horror epic” that’s tonally in the vein of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia, and The Hollywood Reporter adds that the story revolves around the disappearance of high schoolers in a small town. Those disappearances are the focus of the Maybrook Missing website, which shares the following fictional news report –

17 Local Children Leave Home Simultaneously at 2:17 am: A chilling mystery has gripped the small town of Maybrook after 17 children voluntarily left their homes Wednesday morning. Authorities are baffled by the inexplicable disappearance, which has shaken the community to its core. Upon investigation, front door camera footage showed the children leaving their homes at 2:17 am Wednesday morning without any signs of force. Since then, little information has surfaced, and the case continues to baffle investigators. In response, a school gathering was held, where growing unease among parents became clear. As the town struggles to understand what happened, officials continue to urge the public for any leads, while Maybrook is left waiting for answers.

Zach Cregger has assembled a strong cast for his mysterious horror project called Weapons, including Julia Garner (Ozark), Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), Amy Madigan (Antlers), Austin Abrams (Euphoria), June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie), and Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives).

What do you think is happening in Zach Cregger’s Weapons teaser? Do you see anything in the darkness at the end of the footage? Let us know in the comments section below. For more about Weapons, visit MaybrookMissing.net.

The latest Hulu Original horror flick, Control Freak, has gotten a poster or trailer, but be forewarned – if you suffer from arachnophobia you might not want to look at the poster I’ve included below. It’s a little gross! Control Freak, comes from director Shal Ngo, who expands his own horror short, Control, to feature length with this. The short was originally featured on Hulu’s Bite Sized Halloween. Ngo also recently directed The Park, which was like Lord of the Flies set in an amusement park, but this seems to be his biggest movie to date.

It stars Kelly Marie Tran (of Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as “a motivational speaker is tormented by an unrelenting itch on the back of her head.” The trailer actually reminds me a bit of a fun old schlocky horror movie from the seventies called The Manitou, where a woman was similarly infected by a parasite, although given that the movie ended with said woman shooting laserbolts out of her hands at the resulting creature in space, I don’t expect them to end quite the same way (it would be rad if they did though). The movie co-stars Miles Robbins, Toan Le, Kieu Chinh.

The trailer looks pretty effective, with it being a nice change of pace for Tran, who seems like she’s having a whale of a time. While it does look pretty small-scale, and definitely strikes me as a movie that was only ever met for streaming, it looks like it could be a good time, and the poster is great. Check it out:

Control Freak

Control Freak premieres on Hulu (and Disney Plus in Canada) on Thursday, March 13th, followed by a rollout internationally later this year.

Do you think Control Freak looks fun? What did you think of the trailer? Share your thoughts on this Kelly Marie Tran project by leaving a comment below!

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday was a bonkers sequel that took the simple masked slasher movie franchise to new heights (or new depths?). The early 90s film that attempted to end the franchise was hated by critics and very divisive with fans. However, now you can get the full story of what the creative people were thinking as director Adam Marcus recalls being a bright-eyed, fresh-faced film student who was given the keys to the kingdom and didn’t exactly know what to do with the newly purchased property at New Line Cinema. The trailer for Hearts of Darkness: The Making of The Final Friday is now here.

Marcus has spoken directly with fans as he announced that the documentary is “almost 2 hours long.” The Blu-ray edition will feature “another 2 hours of goodness that we could not fit in a theatrical feature film! Oh yeah! We’ve got 13 mini-docs on the insanely STACKED Blu-ray. Tons of stories that only lovers of physical media will be getting in one package!“

Directed by Marcus from a screenplay by Dean Lorey and Jay Huguely (who also gets story credit with Marcus), Jason Goes to Hell has the following synopsis: After being blown away by a team of FBI agents, Jason Voorhees needs to find a way to overcome certain death. When his bloodied remains are sent to the morgue, his heart, still intact, is able to hypnotize a coroner and take over his body. After brutally dispatching a couple of FBI agents, he heads back to his favorite stomping grounds: Crystal Lake. Jason commences another teen massacre while a bounty hunter discovers the only way to kill him.

The film stars John D. LeMay, Kari Keegan, Steven Culp, Erin Gray, Rusty Schwimmer, Leslie Jordan, Richard Gant, Billy Green Bush, Kipp Marcus, Andrew Bloch, Adam Cranner, Allison Smith, Michelle Clunie, Michael B. Silver, Kathryn Atwood, and Julie Michaels, with Steven Williams and Kane Hodder playing Jason Voorhees for the third time.

Jason Goes to Hell is frequently seen as the black sheep of the franchise. It was the first Friday the 13th film to be released by New Line Cinema after Paramount Pictures sold them the rights to the character. After the critical and commercial failure of Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, the new team went in a very different direction. Unfortunately, this new direction didn’t go over well with fans. The physical version of Jason Voorhees we know and love barely appears in the film. Much of it follows Jason’s spirit as it possesses various people to continue his killings. In order to resurrect himself, Jason has to possess a member of his bloodline, but he can also be permanently killed by a magical dagger wielded by one of his relatives.

While the film was panned by fans and critics, it does have its moments, including some stand-out gore sequences and the great Steven Williams as Creighton Duke, an over-the-top bounty hunter who just so happens to be a Voorhees expert.

Last month, we heard that John Lithgow (Conclave) and Geoffrey Rush (Shine) star in a psychological horror film called The Rule of Jenny Pen, which will be getting a theatrical release, courtesy of IFC Films, on March 7th – and now, with the release date just a few weeks away, IFC Films has unveiled a trailer for the film! You can check it out in the embed above.

Directed by James Ashcroft, who made his feature directorial debut with the 2021 horror thriller Coming Home in the DarkThe Rule of Jenny Pen has the following synopsis: Arrogant Judge Stefan Mortensen (Rush) suffers a near-fatal stroke, leaving him partially paralyzed and confined to a retirement home. Resistant to the staff and distant from his friendly roommate, Mortensen soon clashes with seemingly gentle resident Dave Crealy (Lithgow) who secretly terrorizes the home with a sadistic game called “The Rule of Jenny Pen” while wielding his dementia doll as an instrument of cruelty. What begins as childish torment quickly escalates into far more sinister and disturbing incidents. When Mortensen’s pleas to the staff go unanswered, he takes it upon himself to put an end to Crealy’s reign of terror. That sounds like a recipe for a good time to me. Ashcroft also wrote the screenplay with Eli Kent and Owen Marshall.

Catherine Fitzgerald and Orlando Stewart produced the film, with James Ashcroft executive producing alongside Eli Kent, John Lithgow, Geoffrey Rush, Emily Gotto, Nicholas Lazo, and Samuel Zimmerman.

As you can see in the teaser trailer, legendary author Stephen King said this was one of the best movies he has watched in the last year. Alex Billington of First Showing said it’s the birth of a new horror icon – but is that icon Lithgow’s character Dave Crealy, the creepy doll itself, or are they a package deal? We’ll have to wait and see.

The Rule of Jenny Pen will be making its way to the Shudder streaming service after its theatrical run. Does this movie seem interesting to you? What did you think of the teaser trailer? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

I know that title makes Renner sound a bit like a comedy (My Mother the AI), but the trailer for the new Frankie Muniz movie is actually a dark sci-fi thriller. The Malcolm in the Middle actor stars as a computer genius who invents an A.I. life coach to help him find love, but he realizes too late that he’s accidentally programmed his manipulative mother into the code.

Bringing this story to life required a lead who could not only embody the brilliance of Renner, but also capture the emotional complexity of a man wrestling with forces far beyond his control. Frankie Muniz did just that – delivering a performance unlike anything audiences have ever seen from him,” said director/producer Robert Rippberger in a statement. “A.I. isn’t some distant possibility — it’s here, shaping our lives right now. Renner explores that reality and asks: What happens when the creation outpaces the creator? I hope this film will spark conversation, provoke thought, and remind us all that every technological leap comes with a cost.

The official synopsis for Renner: “Renner, a reclusive computer genius driven by a need for control, designs an A.I. named Salenus to help him overcome his crippling social anxieties and find love. Encouraged by Salenus, Renner forms a connection with his alluring neighbor Jamie, but their relationship starts to unravel when she begins to interact with the A.I. As dark secrets and betrayals begin to surface, Salenus’s influence on Renner takes a malicious turn, leaving him entangled in the devastating consequences of his invention.” Luke Medina and Martin Medina wrote the script for Renner from a story by Luke Medina. In addition to Muniz, the film stars Violett Beane, Taylor Gray, and Marcia Gay Harden.

Speaking of Muniz, the actor is set to return for a revival of Malcolm in the Middle alongside Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek. The project is being developed for Disney+ and will be limited to just four episodes. The series will follow Malcolm and his daughter as they are pulled into family-related chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) insist on their genius son attending their 40th wedding anniversary.

Renner will be released in U.S. theaters on February 7th.

If Goosebumps is going to have a revival, we are all in for it. So many of us grew up on R.L. Stine’s spooky spines, collecting haunted masks and staying out of the basement. The live-action movies may have run their course, but the series is thriving on the small screen. With strong enough ratings and reviews, word came a few months after the first season’s conclusion that a sophomore season would officially mark it as an anthology. Now, we have the official trailer for what has been dubbed Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

As per Disney, Goosebumps: The Vanishing “begins when twins Cece and Devin Brewer are sent to spend a summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn, with their divorced dad. A threat is stirring, and they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, Cece, Devin and their friends — Alex, CJ and Frankie — find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”

Jayden Bartels plays Cece, while Sam McCarthy is Devin. Meanwhile, Alex, CJ and Frankie are played by Francesca Noel, Elijah M. Cooper and Galilea La Salvia, respectively. Most of these may not be household names, but David Schwimmer’s presence will bring a bit of star power (and maybe some willingness to watch from parents), just as Jack Black did for the 2015 Goosebumps movie and Justin Long’s familiarity did for season one.

While we dug the first season of Goosebumps enough to give it a 7/10 review, the trailer for The Vanishing does look a lot better in numerous aspects. Unfortunately, it will only consist of eight episodes, whereas the first had 10. There, too, is a bit of disappointment that it won’t come out until January 10th on Disney+ and Hulu, as October would have obviously been the premiere choice for release.

What do you think of the trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing? Were you a fan of the first season? Do you think it will improve on it? Say “cheese” and let us know in the comments below!

RLJE Films dropped the first teaser trailer for Ash at New York Comic-Con, a trippy sci-fi horror movie starring Eiza González (3 Body Problem) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) from director Flying Lotus and screenwriter Jonni Remmler.

The official synopsis for Ash: “On the mysterious planet of Ash, Riya (González) awakens to find her crew slaughtered. When a man named Brion (Paul) arrives to rescue her, an ordeal of psychological and physical terror ensues while Riya and Brion must decide if they can trust one another to survive.” The film also stars Iko Uwais (The Raid), Beulah Koale (Next Goal Wins), and Kate Elliott (Wentworth). In addition to directing Ash, Flying Lotus also composed the score.

González has previously teased that you should expect the unexpected with Flying Lotus. “The way his brain works is quite special,” González says of Ash’s director. “He reminds me a lot of David Fincher, who also started in music videos, as someone who is quite interested in pushing boundaries and not being scared of diving into something. But this movie also required someone who had a really authentic and unique artistic take. We couldn’t have been more lucky, because his visual imagery and the way that he spoke to us about the movie really translated to the making of the film. It’s a movie that causes the audience to stay engaged consistently. I love movies that require you to keep thinking and trying to figure out what is actually happening.

Paul added that music was very important to the production. “He was always playing music on set,” Paul said. “Not necessarily his own music, but just stuff that he dug that fit the vibe of where the characters were at. And then, just before rolling, he would start messing with some stuff that he’d been working on and playing it over the speakers, to get us in the mood. Then they’d yell ‘action!’ and we’d cut the music and go into it.

Ash will be released in theaters in 2025, followed by a streaming debut on Shudder. What did you think of the teaser trailer for Ash?

Netflix is continuing their love of all things dark by releasing the thriller Don’t Move next month. It has been over a year since we got our first look at the movie, so finally getting the trailer is definitely a treat.

Here is the official plot for Don’t Move, which comes to Netflix on October 25th: “A grieving woman hoping to find solace deep in an isolated forest encounters a stranger who injects her with a paralytic agent. As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide, and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.” That’s a pretty terrifying plot right there, especially if you are someone who has a genuine fear of paralysis or even suffers through it.

Don’t Move stars Kelsey Asbille, who has a very minor history with the genre (albeit of a different variety), having appeared in MTV’s Teen Wolf, but you might be more familiar with her from her role as Monica in Yellowstone and criminal Swanee Capps in season four of Fargo. It also stars Finn Wittrock, who has been on the scene through movies, TV and the stage for the better part of the past 20 years. Rounding out the core cast are Daniel Francis and Moray Treadwell. Don’t Move is directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, who had a hand in urban legend-exploring series 50 Stages of Fright. It is written by T.J. Cimfel and David White, the team behind V/H/S Viral and Intruders.

But maybe the biggest draw for fans of the genre is that the movie is produced by Sam Raimi. Raimi has been an active champion for his team on Don’t Move, saying of Schindler and Netto, “I am delighted to collaborate again with our co-directors Adam and Brian on this incredibly frightening and tense story full of so many twists and turns – it will deliver a fantastic horror punch to the audience!” That’s awesome for the directors considering Raimi isn’t only their producer but one of the defining figures of the genre’s modern history.

What do you think of the trailer for Don’t Move? Will you be catching it on Netflix next month?

XYZ Films has dropped a new trailer for Krazy House, the action-horror comedy which our own Chris Bumbray absolutely hated when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Part ’90s sitcom, part blood-soaked, gross-out mayhem, the Krazy House trailer proudly features its offensive subject matter as a badge of pride. The films stars Nick Frost as Bernie, a religious homemaker who discovers that the Russian workers in his house are, in fact, criminals searching for loot. In order to save his wife and the rest of his studio audience-approved sitcom family, Bernie has to man up and unleash his inner beast. The film was written and directed by Steffen Haars & Flip van der Kuil and stars Nick Frost, Alicia Silverstone, Kevin Connolly, Gaite Jansen, and Walt Klink.

Krazy House feels like it’s targeting a very niche audience who might appreciate its shock humour, but that didn’t include Bumbray. “Everything about this film is a disaster right from the start. The pseudo-sitcom gimmick is unfunny and was done much better in the classic viral video Too Many Cooks,” Bumbray wrote in his review. “Frost is doing his best, but the material gives him nothing to work with, as the sitcom gimmick goes on for about forty minutes, while he spends at least another 20 minutes of the movie strung up on a cross (don’t ask) mugging with reaction shots to the chaos around him. Frost drops the accent and re-emerges as a more crazed, badass version of his character (which he seems much more comfortable playing) in the last ten minutes, but by then, the film has devolved into a hopeless satire with nary a laugh in sight.

Bumbray continued: “It’s incredible how many talented people are wasted on this, with Alicia Silverstone deserving far better than Frost’s always-shrieking wife. She and Frost have never been this grating on screen. The movie is going for a bonkers, transgressive vibe, with Entourage star Kevin Connelly turning up late in the game as Jesus Christ himself (he’s actually not bad), with a scene where a man gets violated with a Jesus figurine included. But it’s all just crass exploitation without any substance. Indeed, there’s a place for crass exploitation, but it needs to be backed up by entertainment value. Krazy House is so abysmal that it almost became an endurance test. Frankly, the press screening I saw inspired many walkouts.” You can check out the rest of Bumbray’s review right here.

Krazy House will be released on VOD on October 4th.

A couple years ago, Spider One – the frontman of Powerman 5000 and the brother of fellow musician/filmmaker Rob Zombie – made his feature directorial debut with the horror anthology Allegoria. Last year, his second feature – a horror film called Bury the Bride – was released through the Tubi streaming service. His third film, which is called Little Bites, recently secured a worldwide distribution deal through RLJE Films and the Shudder streaming service, and RLJE Films will be giving the film a theatrical and VOD release on October 4th. Its streaming debut on Shudder will follow at a later date. With the theatrical and VOD release date swiftly approaching, a trailer for Little Bites has now arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Written and directed by Spider One, Little Bites centers on Mindy, a young widow and mother who tries to protect her daughter Alice from a flesh eating monster named Agyar. Mindy has been secretly sacrificing her own life by allowing the creature to feast on her body as she keeps Alice hidden away at her grandmother’s house.

Krsy Fox of Allegoria and Bury the Bride plays Mindy and is joined in the cast by Elizabeth Phoenix Caro (The Christmas Chronicles) as Alice and Jon Sklaroff (Gifted) as Agyar. Also in the cast are Chaz Bono (American Horror Story), Lyndsi LaRose (Frank), Mark Kelly (The Hot Zone), Christopher Alvarenga (Last Girl Standing), and genre icons Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), and Bonnie Aarons (The Nun).

Bono, who also worked on Bury the Bride, serves as an executive producer on Little Bites alongside his mother, Cher, as well as Ian Hoge, Tyler Connolly, and Wendy and Mark Berry. Spider One and Fox’s company OneFox Productions produced.

Spider One told Deadline, “Little Bites began with an unflinching look at my own experience as a parent. An experience that has been and continues to be a complex mess of love, pain, success and failure. Where the best of intentions are constantly countered by the dark forces of self doubt and the external judgment of others. In the film, Mindy’s relationship with her monster, Agyar, is clearly my allegory for parenthood. His bites are her pain. His words are her insecurities. His intentions are to prove Mindy’s failure as a parent. Krsy Fox and Jon Sklaroff delivered beyond my wildest expectations with their portrayals of Mindy and Agyar and I can’t wait to once again team up with Shudder/RLJE and let horror fans to sink their teeth into Little Bites.

We recently heard that Spider One was working on his fourth film, Big Baby.

We were following news of the cat and mouse thriller Unit 234, which is now going by the extended title Unit 234: The Lockup, closely when the film went into production back in 2022… but then it dropped off the radar for a couple of years. Now it’s ready to make its way out into the world, and while we don’t have information on a North American release at this time, we do know that the film is going to receive a digital release in the UK on September 30th, courtesy of Signature Entertainment. In anticipation of that release, a trailer for Unit 234: The Lockup has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Directed by Andy Tennant (Sweet Home Alabama) from a screenplay by first-time feature writer Derek Steiner, Unit 234 sees Orphan, Orphan: First Killand The Last Thing Mary Saw star Fuhrman taking on the role of Laurie Saltair, who discovers the comatose man, Clayton, in Unit 234 of her family’s storage facility, while working the night shift alone. What transpires is a thrill ride of a cat-and-mouse game for Laurie and Clayton to survive the night. Here’s another synopsis, which gives a bit more detail about what’s going on in this movie: A lone employee at a remote storage facility (Fuhrman) discovers an unconscious man locked inside Unit 234, chained to a gurney and missing a kidney. She must then fight to survive a ruthless gang, dead set on retrieving their precious cargo… at any cost.

Jack Huston (House of Gucci) is also in the cast.

Unit 234 was fully financed by Productivity Media. The film was produced by Blythe Frank, Hadeel Reda, and Lee Dreyfus, along with Productivity Media’s William G. Santor and Doug Murray. Johnson serves as executive producer alongside Colleen Camp.

I was sold on this one as soon as I saw the names Isabelle Fuhrman and Don Johnson alongside the “cat and mouse thriller” description, so I will be watching Unit 234 for sure.

Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have been busy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe lately, directing episodes of Moon KnightLoki season 2, and the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again, but before they entered the Marvel universe, they were known for making genre films like Resolution, Spring, The Endless, Synchronic, and Something in the Dirt. They’re staying in touch with their roots by serving as executive producers on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Things Will Be Different, which stars Riley Dandy of Christmas Bloody Christmas and Adam David Thompson of A Walk Among the Tombstones – and since that film is set to receive a theatrical and digital release on October 4th, a trailer has now made its way online. You can watch it in the embed above.

The feature directorial debut of Michael Felker, the film sees Dandy and Thompson taking on the roles of siblings Joseph and Sidney, who are on the run from the law. The mysterious farmhouse they are staying in inexplicably transports them through time. While attempting to return to their present, a cryptic force emerges and traps them on a strange plot of land, giving them a deathly ultimatum in order to escape. Here’s another synopsis: In order to escape police after a robbery, two estranged siblings lay low in a metaphysical farmhouse that hides them away in a different time. There they reckon with a mysterious force that pushes their familial bonds to unnatural breaking points.

Benson also happens to be in the cast, along with Chloe Skoczen (Get Me Back Up There), Sarah Bolger (Emelie), and newcomer Jori Lynn Felker.

Things Will Be Different was produced by Michael Felker (under his Last Life banner), Shane Spiegel, Jacob Rosenthal, and David Lawson Jr. of Rustic Films. The writer/director/producer provided the following statement: “I made Things Will Be Different for people who love thrillers, noir, and science fiction they can think about. It’s a giant mystery box of a movie with a strong familial core that’s inspired by my own family. Adam David Thompson and Riley Dandy are just incredible as Joe and Sid, and I can’t believe they aren’t actually brother and sister. I hope people either ponder their own theories and talk about them after watching, or just sit back and enjoy an emotionally wild and unpredictable ride. Either way you can’t go wrong.

During the Halloween season of 2022, it was announced that Damian Lewis, whose credits include Billions, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Homeland, and Dreamcatcher, would be playing two roles in the supernatural black comedy The Radleys. The film went into production in 2023, with Lewis being joined in the cast by Kelly Macdonald (No Country for Old Men), Harry Baxendale (Holmes & Watson), Bo Bragason (The Ballad of Renegade Nell), Jay Lycurgo (Titans), Siân Phillips (I, Claudius), and Shaun Parkes (Small Axe). Now, The Radleys is ready to make its way out into the world this Halloween season, with a theatrical, digital, and VOD release scheduled for October 4th, and with that date swiftly approaching, a trailer for the film has dropped online. You can watch it in the embed above.

Euros Lyn (Heartstopper) directed The Radleys from a script written by Talitha Stevenson, based on a novel by Matt Haig (pick up a copy HERE). Set in a quiet, suburban English town, the film charts the story of the Radleys, who to their neighbours are as ordinary as they come. But beneath the surface, parents Peter (Lewis) and Helen (Macdonald) are concealing a dark secret from their teenage children, Rowan (Baxendale) and Clara (Bragason). They are abstaining vampires, who choose not to drink blood despite their natural cravings, making them more and more bloodthirsty by the day. When Peter’s twin brother Will arrives on the scene (also played by Lewis), a proud, practicing vampire who openly embraces his hedonistic, bloodthirsty lifestyle, the family has to confront some home truths.

The adaptation aimed to be “wickedly funny and scarily relatable.” Here’s another synopsis: Award-winning actors Kelly Macdonald and Damian Lewis star in a dark comedy thriller about a seemingly average suburban family with a juicy secret: they are vampires. In the light of day, the Radleys might seem normal, but they can only abstain from their natural cravings for so long until the bloody truth bubbles to the surface and turns their quiet country life upside down.

The Radleys comes to us from Genesius Pictures and was developed with British Comedy Award winner Jo Brand. It’s produced by Debbie Gray. Lewis executive produced through his production company Ginger Biscuit Entertainment. Other executive producers include Julia Stuart and Laura Grange of Sky, Mark Gooder and Alison Thompson of Cornerstone, Peter Touche, Andrea Scarso and Christelle Conan of Ingenious Media, and Julian Gleek of Genesius. The film was financed by Sky and Ingenious Media.

Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) takes the lead in the horror thriller House of Spoils, which is coming to us from Blumhouse Television and Amazon‘s Prime Video. This one has the great Halloween season release date of October 3rd, and with that date right around the corner, a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.

The film has been written and directed by the duo of Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, whose previous credits include the 2019 film Blow the Man Down, episodes of the recent mini-series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, and episodes of the AMC+ series Moonhaven.

Described as a “tense, psychological and sensuous” thriller, House of Spoils stars DeBose as an ambitious chef who opens her first restaurant—a farm-to-table affair on a remote estate—where she battles kitchen chaos, a dubious investor, crushing self doubts… and the powerful spirit of the estate’s previous owner who threatens to sabotage her at every turn.

DeBose is joined in the cast by Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria), Marton Csokas (The Equalizer), Amara Karan (The Darjeeling Limited), and Arian Moayed (Succession).

Cole told Elle that the House of Spoils production put DeBose through the wringer: “This was a challenging shoot. It was like she’s in every scene. It’s dirty, it’s nasty. Some of these sets, we literally had her crawling in dirt over and over again one night and there was a lot we asked of her.” The movie seems interesting enough to me, so I will probably be including it in my October-long horror movie viewing spree. October is all about watching as many horror movies as possible.

House of Spoils was filmed in Hungary and produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum, Secret Engine’s Alex Scharfman, Lucas Joaquin, and Drew Houpt, and Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath. Blumhouse Television’s Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold serve as executive producers.

After making thin air terrifying again (sorry, The Happening, you tried) with 2020’s atmospheric and chilling horror film The Invisible Man, Leigh Whannell is taking another bite out of the Universal Monsters rogue’s gallery with Wolf Man. Before everyone logs off for the weekend, Whannell and Blumhouse hit horror fans with a Wolf Man teaser trailer, previewing the filmmaker’s latest bone-chilling horror film.

Today’s Wolf Man teaser trailer begins with footage of a praying mantis stalking an unsuspecting lunch, striking with lightning-fast speed as the meal feels fangs piercing its exterior. As the words Wolf Man steadily slash onto the screen, the footage shows a remote house in Oregon where a mysterious animal waits in the woods. While trying to adjust to their new lives, Christopher Abbott is attacked by what he says is a ferocious wolf-like creature standing on two legs. As the lycanthropy surges through his system, he changes, leaving Julia Garner and Matilda Firth to fend for themselves against a man driven mad by the full moon. The Wolf Man teaser displays what we love about Whannell’s film style: atmosphere, compelling performances, and a bone-chilling ramp-up to an all-out horror fest that promises to leave an impression.

Christopher Abbott , Wolf Man, teaser trailer

When Universal announced this project in 2020, Ryan Gosling was set to star in it – and it got rolling when Gosling pitched this take on the concept of The Wolf Man to Universal. Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo then fleshed out the ideas into a screenplay (Blum is also married to Blumhouse founder Jason Blum). The story was “believed to be set in present times and in the vein of Jake Gyllenhaal’s thriller Nightcrawler with an obvious supernatural twist.” The final version of the script credits Blum and Angelo, as well as Whannell and his wife, Corbett Tuck.

Whannell first signed on to direct the film in 2020 but then dropped out the following year. That’s when Gosling’s Blue Valentine and Place Beyond the Pines director Derek Cianfrance came on board. Gosling and Cianfrance stepped away from Wolf Man early last year, and then Whannell returned.

Welp, I know what I’ll see during my birthday weekend next year! I’m a major fan of Whannell’s The Invisible Man, and I can’t wait to see what he does with my favorite of Universal’s classic monsters. How about you? What do you think about today’s Wolf Man teaser trailer? Is this what we can expect Abbott’s Wolf Man to look like? I highly doubt it.

Amy Adams has been in development with Nightbitch for quite a while, but you can now get a first look at the new surreal film now that a trailer has recently released from Searchlight Pictures. The film has been written and directed by Marielle Heller (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Nightbitch is based on a novel by Rachel Yoder. The film will tell the story of “a suburban mom thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler. As she embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a dog.”

Adams plays that possibly canine housewife. Scoot McNairy (Monsters) is also in the cast, playing her “oft-traveling husband,” while Mary Holland, who is best known for appearing in the Netflix release Senior Year and for co-writing and co-starring in Clea DuVall’s romantic comedy Happiest Season, takes on an unspecified role. The cast will also include Arleigh Patrick Snowden, Emmett James Snowden, Zoë Chao, Archana Rajan and Jessica Harper.

Coming to us from Searchlight Pictures and Annapurna, Nightbitch is produced by Heller, Adams, Anne Carey, Stacy O’Neil, Christina Oh, and Sue Naegle. Sammy Scher and Havilah Brewster serve as executive producers.

Yoder’s novel (pick up a copy HERE) has the following description:
“One day, the mother was a mother, but then one night, she was quite suddenly something else… An ambitious mother puts her art career on hold to stay at home with her newborn son, but the experience does not match her imagination. Two years later, she steps into the bathroom for a break from her toddler’s demands, only to discover a dense patch of hair on the back of her neck. In the mirror, her canines suddenly look sharper than she remembers. Her husband, who travels for work five days a week, casually dismisses her fears from faraway hotel rooms. As the mother’s symptoms intensify, and her temptation to give in to her new dog impulses peak, she struggles to keep her alter-canine-identity secret. Seeking a cure at the library, she discovers the mysterious academic tome which becomes her bible, A Field Guide to Magical Women: A Mythical Ethnography, and meets a group of mommies involved in a multilevel-marketing scheme who may also be more than what they seem. An outrageously original novel of ideas about art, power, and womanhood wrapped in a satirical fairy tale, Nightbitch will make you want to howl in laughter and recognition. And you should. You should howl as much as you want.”

Nightbitch is set to hit theaters this December.

Woman of the Hour: Anna Kendrick’s true crime directorial debut gets a trailer https://www.joblo.com/woman-of-the-hour-trailer/ https://www.joblo.com/woman-of-the-hour-trailer/#respond Sun, 11 Aug 2024 18:15:00 +0000 https://www.joblo.com/?p=788294 Woman of the Hour, a true crime tale directed by Anna Kendrick, is finally gearing up to make its premiere on Netflix.

The post Woman of the Hour: Anna Kendrick’s true crime directorial debut gets a trailer appeared first on JoBlo.

Last year’s edition of TIFF had an unusually large number of movie premieres that were directed by famous actors. A cynical way of explaining this is that, as the guild strikes were happening, actors could walk the red carpet at the fest if they presented films they directed rather than merely acted in. The movies were a mixed bag. Chris Pine’s Poolman was a disaster, while Michael Keaton’s Knox Goes Away was underrated and unfairly neglected by critics.

But, by far, the best movie there directed by an actor was Anna Kendrick’s true crime tale, Woman of the Hour. An impressively made debut, with a mastery of the craft and gritty vibe one might not have expected from the famously sunny star, it was snapped up by Netflix in a pricy deal. Surprisingly, the streamer held on to the film for a while, but it looks like they’re getting ready to release it, with the Canadian distributor, VVS, finally releasing a trailer. Typically, when a Canadian distributor shares rights with Netflix, they’ll time the release to coincide with the Netflix drop, and while the trailer doesn’t specify when it’s coming out, a fall release seems in the cards.

In Woman of the Hour, Kendrick plays a young actress named Cheryl Bradshaw who, in the seventies, was a contestant on The Dating Game and found herself matched up with a contestant, Rodney Alcala, who was later revealed to be a serial killer. The film depicts both Bradshaw’s life in Los Angeles as well as Alcala’s reign of terror. It’s a really good, unsettling film, and Kendrick’s chops behind the camera are undeniable. It also gives Daniel Zovatto a really solid star turn as the deranged Alcala. Given Netflix’s reputation with the true crime genre, this seems like a slam dunk for them (read my review HERE).

Boogiemen come in all shapes and sizes. They hide beneath your bed, lurk in shadows, and patiently wait to devour you from the depths of your closet. Children try to avoid them at all costs, but now and then, one is so determined to sink its pointed teeth into your tasty meats that it’ll ignore every ward and warning to claim its prize. Today’s Bagman trailer features a sinister ghoul who snatches children and stuffs them into a haunted bag, like Krampus’s kleptomaniac cousin.

Here’s the official synopsis for Bagman courtesy of Lionsgate:

In the dark horror film Bagman, a family finds themselves ensnared in a nightmare as they are hunted by a malevolent, mythical creature. For centuries and across cultures, parents have warned their children of the legendary Bagman, who snatches innocent children and stuffs them into his vile, rotting bag—never to be seen again. Patrick McKee (Sam Claflin) narrowly escaped such an encounter as a boy, which left him with lasting scars throughout his adulthood. Now, Patrick’s childhood tormentor has returned, threatening the safety of his wife Karina (Antonia Thomas) and son Jake (Caréll Rhoden).

Colm McCarthy (The Girl With All the Gifts, Outcast) directs Bagman from a script by John Hulme. Sharon D. Clarke, Steven Cree, William Hope, Adelle Leonce, Peter McDonald, Henry Pettigrew, and Will Davis also star.

Bagman, trailer, Lionsgate, Sam Claflin, horror

In today’s Bagman trailer, Sam Claflin’s Patrick faces a nightmare from his past as a mythological figure used to keep children from misbehaving reemerges to finish what it started. As the kids disappear, the Bagman targets Patrick and his wife Karina’s son Jake, almost as if to taunt Patrick into coming after it. Sick and tired of living in fear, and with his son’s life on the line, Patrick attempts to solve the mystery of the Bagman and rid the world of its evil deeds before it can contort Jake into another trinket for his vile bag of tricks.

Did you encounter anything similar to the Bagman when you were a child? My grandfather used to tell us stories of a little boy he met at a funeral home who followed him home to stand outside his window at night. The child would tap on the glass of his bedroom, begging to come in and play. My grandfather delighted in scaring the daylights out of me and my cousins. He even told us he eventually killed the boy, and he buried the body in the basement of his house. The house we would visit for years. We never got much sleep in that house. I miss my grandfather. He was a riot.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man is inviting you to “witness the birth of all evil” as the official trailer for the upcoming adaptation of the comic book character has dropped. And yes, that includes a raccoon that buries itself in your mouth.

While we have already seen Jack Kesy in character as Big Red and even got a teaser release earlier this month, this full-length trailer gives a better idea of just what Kesy hopes to bring to Hellboy and more of what the plot entails. It, too, shows off the visual style that looks to be fittingly in line with the styling of the comic series – which comes from writer Mike Mignola and Dark Horse – while also bringing forth the horror elements. It, too, could serve as a tribute to late artist Richard Corben, who passed away in 2020.

The Crooked Man finds “Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia. There, they discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man. In the comic, The Crooked Man was an eighteenth-century miser and war profiteer named Jeremiah Witkins who was hanged for his crimes yet returned from Hell as the region’s resident Devil.”

Fans are rightly skeptical of another Hellboy movie…at least if it’s not going to star Ron Perlman and be directed by Guillermo del Toro. Sure, we all want Hellboy 3 with that duo and most of us – David Harbour included – know just how bad the 2019 effort was, but visually The Crooked Man looks like it’s trying to stand on its own. That it has a budget of just $25 million – which is half of the previous movie – might put some people off, but hopefully it is stretched creatively.

But wait – there’s more! We also interviewed the cast members, Jack Kesy, Jefferson White (Yellowstone), Adeline Rudolph, director Brian Taylor (Crank) and the creator of the character himself, Mike Mignola! Check out the interviews below directly from Comic Con!

The juice is loose as the latest Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer rises from the grave to share new footage from one of 2024’s most anticipated films. Few sequels hitting screens in 2024 hold as much cache and expectation as the long-gestating follow-up to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic, Beetlejuice. Opening weekend for this movie is likely to blow the box office away, and from looking at today’s trailer, Burton is pulling out all the stops to make sure Beetlejuice Beetlejuice lives up to the legacy of the original.

Today’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer gives us a broader look at the upcoming film, with Jenna Ortega’s disaffected teen attitude on display, Burton’s signature set designs looking more elaborate than ever, and Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice giving audiences plenty of reasons to remember why he’s the Ghost with the Most. The new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer includes tons of new footage, almost to the point where one could say it’s too much. If you want to go in fresh to Burton’s latest film, this is not the preview for you.

In the latest Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer, Keaton’s Beetlejuice gets wind of his old flame, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), being back in town, giving him the opportunity he needs to return to the Land of the Living for another shot at love. As all hell breaks loose, enemies from the Afterlife seek to derail Beetlejuice’s plans as he and Lydia search for Astrid (Jenna Ortega), Lydia’s daughter, who’s lost in the Underworld. The trailer proudly displays Burton’s signature style, love of practical effects (though there are some CGI elements on display), and ability to direct an ensemble cast of comedic greats.

Here’s the official synopsis for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice:

Keaton returns to his iconic role alongside Oscar nominee Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Little Women) as Lydia Deetz and two-time Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt$ Creek, The Nightmare Before Christmas) as Delia Deetz, with new cast members Justin Theroux (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectre, The Matrix films), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon) in his feature film debut, with Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI) as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, At Eternity’s Gate).

After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and accidentally opens the portal to the Afterlife. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times, and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.

Burton, a genre unto himself, directs from a screenplay by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Wednesday), a story by Gough & Millar, and Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO Batman Movie), based on characters created by Michael McDowell & Larry Wilson.  The film’s producers are Marc Toberoff, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tommy Harper, and Burton, with Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, Gough, Millar, Larry Wilson, Laurence Senelick, and Brad Pitt executive producing.

What do you think about the latest Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer? Are you excited about getting reacquainted with Keaton, Ryder, and O’Hara and meeting the rest of the gang? Let us know in the comments section below.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice comes to theaters on September 6, 2024.

Mubi has just released the stylistically flashy yet unsettling trailer for Coralie Fargeat’s new body horror film, The Substance. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month, earning rave first reactions and an 11-minute standing ovation, while also catching media attention with its scenes of Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley displaying full frontal nudity.  it has earned its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings boardThe Substance has been rated R for strong bloody violent content, gore, graphic nudity and language.

The press release for the new film reads,
Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself?
You. Only better in every way.
You’ve got to try this product: The Substance.
It changed my life.

Demi Moore gives a career-best performance as Elisabeth Sparkle, a former A-lister past her prime and suddenly fired from her fitness TV show by repellent studio head Harvey (Dennis Quaid).

She is then drawn to the opportunity presented by a mysterious new drug: THE SUBSTANCE. All it takes is one injection and she is reborn – temporarily – as the gorgeous, twentysomething Sue (Margaret Qualley).

The only rule? Time needs to be split: exactly one week in one body, then one week in the other. No exceptions. A perfect balance. What could go wrong?

Deliriously entertaining and ruthlessly satirical, Coralie Fargeat’s Cannes sensation turns toxic beauty culture inside out with a be-careful-what-you-wish-for fable for the ages. Explosive, provocative and twisted, THE SUBSTANCE marks the arrival of a thrillingly visionary filmmaker.”

The film’s star Demi Moore would recently cite this project as one that re-engage with her career after having doubts, “What I love is this was a rich, complex, demanding role that gave me an opportunity to really push myself outside of my comfort zone, and in the end to feel like I explored and grew not only as an actor, but as a person.” So, what does Demi Moore hope comes of The Substance as far as where her career is headed? “If there’s any hope, it’s really just to kind of re-engage in a way. I feel like I took a real step back for a long time and really questioned even whether or not this is what I should be doing. This was a part of waking myself up.”

SPOILER WARNING! In an age where trailers can spoil just about everything a movie has to offer, the marketing campaign for Longlegs has actually been very refreshing. That said, if you’d like to keep the Longlegs mystery alive, particularly when it comes to the character played by Nicolas Cage, I’d recommend opting out of watching this latest teaser.

Since those first few cryptic teasers, we have learned more about Longlegs, but there still feels like so much left to discover. A new short teaser for the upcoming horror thriller has been released, offering a couple of fleeting glimpses of Cage’s creepy serial killer character.

Nicolas Cage, Longlegs
Nicolas Cage, Longlegs

Directed and written by Osgood Perkins (I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House), Longlegs stars Maika Monroe as FBI Agent Lee Harker, “a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.” In addition to Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, Longlegs also stars Alicia Witt (Urban Legend), Blair Underwood (LA Law), and Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men). The film is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.

While speaking with horror icon John Carpenter, Cage has teased that the film is “about a character who’s hearing voices. It’s kind of like a possessed Geppetto, who’s making these dolls…” Cage can always be counted upon to bring his A-game with every performance, but this looks to be something very different, and I can’t wait to see what he will bring to this twisted serial killer.

The first reactions to Longlegs emerged last month and were extremely positive, with some calling it the scariest movie of the year and a contemporary Silence of the Lambs with excellent performances from everyone involved. It sounds like exactly the type of film that is going to get under your skin in the best way—creepy, unsettling, disturbing—just what we need. Longlegs will be released on July 12th.

If you’ve been sleeping on Tubi, you should give the free, ad-supported streaming service a try. They have quite an extensive library of horror movies, ranging from old-school classics like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to unknown gems. They’ve also got their own line of Tubi Originals, and the latest will hit the service in just a few days: Killer Body Count, a slasher from director Daniskha Esterhazy set at a rehab center for sex addicts. Check out the new trailer for Killer Body Count above!

Mistaken for a sex addict by her devout father, Cami is sent to an isolated rehab center,” reads the official synopsis for Killer Body Count. “But when a killer begins to hunt the teens, Cami realizes that her survival and her independence are intertwined in ways she could never imagine.” The film stars Cassiell Eatock-Winnik as Cami George, Savana Tardieu as Wyatt, N’Kone Mametja as Mia, Khosi Ngema as Ali, Alex McGregor as Tawny, Bjorn Steinbach as Eugene, and Jessie Diepeveen as Bree.

Director Danishka Esterhazy is best known for The Banana Splits Movie and the remake of Slumber Party Massacre. Our own Alex Maidy had a lot of fun with the contemporary reimagining of the classic slasher. “Slumber Party Massacre successfully addresses the male and female gaze, the Bechdel Test, and virtually every trope of the 1980s slasher genre,” Maidy wrote. “It works far better when it is in solid satire mode and wobbles a bit when it switches into a more conventional horror tone. Still, this movie is a lot of bloody fun and works thanks to an ensemble of likable actors playing characters you want to root for while simultaneously paying homage to the original 1982 movie. Slumber Party Massacre is a fun blast of gore that does a great job of taking social commentary and weaving it into a story about bludgeoning people to death rather than beating us over the head with it.” You can check out the rest of Maidy’s review right here.

What did you think of the trailer for Killer Body Count? Will you be watching when it premieres on Tubi on May 17th?

NEON is here to crawl into your Tuesday and make it creepy. A new Longlegs trailer is perplexing horror fans today with a cryptic and extended look at Osgood Perkins’s bizarre-looking serial killer film. The theatrical cut of the “Dirty” and “Sweet” teasers explore two main characters of the film: FBI Agent Harker (Maika Monroe) and the serial killer, Longlegs, played by Nicolas Cage.

In the Longlegs trailer, Perkins fills the screen with disturbing imagery and perplexing prose, teasing events from a bizarre trip into the heart of darkness.

Longlegs follows FBI agent Lee Harker, “a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer. As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”

Last week, the first reactions to Longlegs hit the internet, with horror buffs crowing about the film’s unique blend of mystery and spine-tingling terror. Some said Longlegs is a “masterpiece” and one of the year’s best horror films. One audience member said, “Perkins has crafted an outstandingly bleak and fiendish investigative thriller,” then said the feature is “violently evil.”

Perkins has built a solid fanbase since his 2015 debut, The Blackcoat’s Daughter. He followed that up with the next year’s I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House before taking on Gretel & Hansel in 2020. Outside of Longlegs, Perkins – whose history with the horror genre on the big screen goes all the way back to portraying a young Norman Bates in Psycho II (if you didn’t already know, Oz is Anthony’s son) – already has his next picture lined up, with Neon (who is distributing Longlegs as well) backing Keeper. According to DeadlineKeeper “follows a couple as they escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm (Rossif Sutherland) suddenly returns to the city, Liz (Tatiana Maslany) finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets.”

What do you think about the new Longlegs trailer? Are you excited about experiencing Osgood Perkins’s next mind f*ck of a horror film? Let us know in the comments section below.

Shudder has proven itself to be the haven of innovative horror movies. Their recent Late Night with the Devil has amassed critical and audience praise. Their partnership with AMC continues to bring in new content, like the upcoming announced thriller The Cycle, which has just tapped Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll to be the lead. The horror streaming service has now brought us the trailer for The Demon Disorder, which they have acquired with AMC networks. The film comes from special effects master Steven Boyle (THE MATRIX Trilogy, THE HOBBIT Trilogy, KING KONG). The streamer also released the trailer for the highly anticipated film, which marks Boyle’s feature directorial debut. Starring John Noble (THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy), Charles Cottier, Christian Willis, and Dirk Hunter, the film will make its exclusive streaming debut on Shudder in Fall 2024

The official plot synopsis reads,
“The Australian demonic family drama centers on Graham, a man haunted by his past since the death of his father and the estrangement from his two brothers. Jake, the middle brother, contacts Graham claiming that something is horribly wrong: their youngest brother Phillip is possessed by their deceased father. Graham reluctantly agrees to go and see for himself. With the three brothers back together, they soon realize they are unprepared for the forces against them and learn that the sins of their past will not stay hidden. But how do you defeat a presence that knows you inside and out? An anger so powerful it refuses to stay dead?”

Steven Boyle expresses his excitement in bringing this new twist on possession to life, “We are thrilled that THE DEMON DISORDER has reached its final resting place with our friends at Shudder. It’s a community and fanbase that we hold in the highest esteem and we couldn’t be happier to be on this journey with them!” Samuel Zimmerman, the Head of Programming for Shudder also adds, “After years of a creating a range of elaborate visual experiences through his work as a special effects designer on iconic films, we’re thrilled to give Steven Boyle a platform for his feature length directorial debut with THE DEMON DISORDER. Full of impressive body horror that fans have come to expect from this master of effects, Boyle’s film is an engrossing story about breaking generational curses that viewers will find both unsettling and amusing.”

Written and directed by Boyle, along with Toby Osborne (PINDAM) as writer, THE DEMON DISORDER is produced by Boyle and Ally Muller and executive produced by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig.

Vincent Cassel and David Cronenberg are getting the band back together for The Shrouds, a disturbing meditation about grief, making peace with death, and watching your loved ones decompose in real time. Yeah, you heard me. The Shrouds teaser trailer offers a brief glimpse at Cronenberg’s next mind-bending thriller and the filmmaker’s first project with Cassel since teaming up for Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method. According to Cronenberg, The Shrouds is a personal project for him, with parts of the story being autobiographical.

In The Shrouds, Vincent Cassell takes on the role of Karsh, “an innovative businessman and grieving widower, who builds a novel device to connect with the dead inside a burial shroud. This burial tool installed at his own state-of-the-art though controversial cemetery allows him and his clients to watch their specific departed loved one decompose in real time. Karsh’s revolutionary business is on the verge of breaking into the international mainstream when several graves within his cemetery are vandalized and nearly destroyed, including that of his wife. While he struggles to uncover a clear motive for the attack, the mystery of who wrought this havoc, and why, drive him to reevaluate his business, marriage and fidelity to his late wife’s memory, as well as push him to new beginnings.”

Diane Kruger (National TreasureInglorious BasterdsIn the Fade), Guy Pearce (MementoThe Hurt Locker), Sandrine Holt (HomelandHouse of Cards), Al Sapienza (The SopranosReacher), Elizabeth Saunders (FromMary Kills People), and Jennifer Dale (CoronerInto Invisible Light) join the cast as primary players.

In The Shrouds teaser trailer, Cassel’s Karsh contemplates the art of seduction alongside Diane Kruger’s Becca. After Karsh discovers his cemetery is vandalized and the party responsible could be tracking him, he takes a mysterious black suit out of storage. A montage of quick cuts from the film follows, with Cassel and Karsh sharing knowing glances as Karsh contemplates his next move.

In 2017, a video game based on the popular horror franchise Friday the 13th was released. That game and another called Dead by Daylight had an option where you get to stalk players as the killer and try to pick them off one by one. The new IFC Films and Shudder original, In a Violent Nature, takes a similar concept and has the audience experience a slasher movie from the point-of-view of the killer. Writer/Director Chris Nash brings us the twisty premise and IFC Films has released a new trailer for all of us to behold.

Here’s the official synopsis: When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.

The film stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor. It was produced by Peter Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer.

Following the theatrical run, In a Violent Nature will be making its way to the Shudder streaming service. Shudder’s Samuel Zimmerman told Variety, “Chris had such a clarity of vision with what this film is. It takes elements of very classical slashers and the very classical slasher aesthetic, but I understood the language he wanted to tell it in. At the time he was talking about films like Gerald Kargl’s Angst, which is one of my favorite home invasion films from Austria from the early ’80s. It has really revolutionary cinematography, so I knew he wanted to make this artful slasher that didn’t reject the hallmarks, but evolved the language of it forward and gave you a different perspective by tying you to the monster himself.“

Scott Shooman, the head of AMC Networks film group (which owns Shudder), added: “When you surrender yourself to this movie at the theater, it’s a different experience. It’s got the best slasher kills. It’s why we share armrests: To have the experience of something like In a Violent Nature in the theater.“

IFC will release the film UNRATED in theaters on May 31.

After teasing the release of the new trailer for the upcoming horror prequel, Paramount has just dropped the official second trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One. The film showcases that fateful day when the invasion began and the people of New York would struggle to deal with a fatal menace that attacks from sounds. The trailer seems to be the same one that was premiered at CinemaCon this year, as the footage matches the description given by our own Lance Vlcek, who was in attendance.

While John Krasinski directed the previous two films, he is producing A Quiet Place: Day One and has passed the helming duties over to Michael Sarnoski, director of the Nicolas Cage drama Pig (watch it HERE). Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) was attached to write and direct A Quiet Place: Day One for a while, but when he dropped out he was replaced by Sarnoski. The story, which is credited to Krasinski and Sarnoski, does take place in the same world established in the first two movies, but doesn’t involve the Abbott family, the characters we followed through the first two movies.

It was reported that after seeing Pig and being blown away by the film, Krasinski was quick to put Sarnoski on the short list of directors to take a meeting for the project. While insiders say Sarnoski’s vision for the film was still his own and different from what Krasinski had done with the first two, he still gave a pitch that fit the tone of the world they had created and felt he was the perfect fit for their next installment.

Krasinski is producing A Quiet Place: Day One under his Sunday Night banner, while Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller produce through their company Platinum Dunes. Krasinski’s Sunday Night partner Allyson Seeger serves as executive producer.

The film stars 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, Alex Wolff of Hereditary and Pig, and Joseph Quinn, who is better known as Eddie Munson from the most recent season of Stranger Things. Djimon Hounsou, who played “Man on Island” in A Quiet Place: Part II, reprises that role here.

The official synopsis simply says: Experience the day the world went quiet. Paramount has also released the new poster, which you can view below.

The zombie genre resides comfortably under the umbrella of horror that it is rarely explored through different means. Then, you have films like Maggie, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger in a rare dramatic turn, that features the concept in a different light. Prepare for the emotion and despair of seeing your loved ones return in an unnatural manner in the trailer for the Norway horror drama Handling the Undead. The film is based on the novel Hanteringen av odöda from the Let the Right One In author, John Ajvide Lindqvist. The new haunting trailer was just released by Neon.

The official synopsis from Neon reads,
“On a hot summer day in Oslo, the dead mysteriously awaken, and three families are thrown into chaos when their deceased loved ones come back to them. Who are they, and what do they want? A family is faced with the mother’s reawakening before they have even mourned her death after a car accident; an elderly woman gets the love of her life back the same day she has buried her; a grandfather rescues his grandchild from the gravesite in a desperate attempt to get his daughter out of her depression. Handling the Undead is a drama with elements of horror about three families, a story about grief and loss, but also about hope and understanding of what we can’t comprehend or control.”

The screenplay is written by John Ajvide Lindqvist, in cooperation with director Thea Hvistendahl. Lindqvist is the award-winning writer who is also the mind behind Let the Right One In and Border (Cannes, Un Certain Regard Award, 2018). Handling the Undead is Thea Hvistendahls directorial debut.

Talents include Cannes-winning actress Renate Reinsve, Anders Danielsen Lie, Bjørn Sundquist, Bente Børsum, Bahar Pars, Olga Damani, Kian Hansen og Inesa Dauksta. The film is produced by Einar Film in collaboration with Swedish Zentropa, Nordisk Film and Filmiki, Greece. It is distributed in the Nordic region by Nordisk Film, and international sales is handled by TrustNordisk. The film is supported by several national and regional funds including both Norwegian and Swedish Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fund and Film I Väst. Neon has secured the North American and UK rights. The total budget is 4.5 million.

HANDLING THE UNDEAD opens exclusively at the IFC center in New York on May 31st, expands on June 7th in select cities including Los Angeles.
